between the upper and lower spiritual
levels, because all the sustenance to the whole world flows through the Gateway
of heaven above the Temple Mount through the Land of Israel to the 70 angels of
each of the 70 nations.

destruction (exile) vs. times of
Ingathering of Exiles and Redemption:
When the Jewish
people are in the state of
destruction then a much of the sustenance that should stay in the Land of
Israel is given to foreign
angels that rule over the respective countries where
most of the Jewish people live.
Part of the Land is desolate
and under foreign
rule. This is another aspect of lack of sustenance in the Land of Israel.
