The three levels of Space were already evident at the very beginning
of Creation. It states in the Zohar, Shemot Pikudei 222a:
When G-d created the world, He threw a precious stone from
under His Chair of Glory and sunk it in the abyss. The lower side
of the stone was in the abyss while the upper side was the center
point of this earthThe Foundation Stone. The stone
expanded left, right, and to all sides: every side received its
vitality from the center point. The stone expanded three
times:
The first expansion was created from matter that was exceedingly
clear and fine around the center point. This includes the
Temple, with all its chambers, and Jerusalem within the walls.
The second expansion was created from matter that was not so fine
and clear. This is the level of the holiness of the Land of Israel
and this holiness expanded until the edge of its borders.
The third expansion was created of coarse matter; darker and heavier
than the other two expansions. These became the 70 countries with
the oceans surrounding it.
From the above, we can understand that the Foundation Stone is an
all-inclusive point of the whole world. Adam, being G-d's all-inclusive
creation, was thus created from the earth of the Foundation Stone.
These three expansions of the Foundation Stone are connected with
the following three worlds of G-d's Creation:
The World of Creation (Beriah) was the first expansion to be
revealed in the Temple. This was the World of Thought, which was
exemplified by the fact that all sacrifices had to have the proper
thought while being sacrificed by the Cohen.
The World of Formation (Yetzirah) was the second expansion and
is revealed in the Land of Israel. This is the World of Speech.
All Prophecy was received in the Land of Israel, or for the Land
of Israel and its people.
The World of Action (Asiyah) was the third and last expansion.
This world rules over the 70 countries outside the Land of Israel.
With regard to the levels of Jewish souls living in the Land of
Israel, versus those living outside the Land, the book "Tuv
Ha'Aretz" written by Rav Natan Shapira) states: "Know
that the souls of Israel that live outside the Land of Israel
are from the World of Sandlafon [an angel] and this is the World
of Action." Therefore, those that live there are
called Beit Yaacov and are called slaves, eved everi - gematria (282+76= 358), which also equals nachash, snake
- (358), because they live under the husks.
Those that live in the Land of Israel are from the World of Metatron (the World of Formation). The Land
of Israel is called Land of the Deer Eretz - gematria (291+107=398),
Chanoch-Metatron - gematria (314+84=398), Free means Chofshi(gematria=398)
and they are called My Sons - Bnei Israel.
